Asarea says:
What's wrong with it?
1.) Handwriting is BAD. Especially if you have a handwriting like me.
2.) IF you need to use handwriting instead of font lettering, don't make that many mistakes. IF you make mistakes, correct them!
3.) Most of the story contains the word 'boring'. And yes, that's boring! You want to tell the world something with your comic strip - so on and write a story!
4.) Not again this lousy old Monty Python-gag-foot. Try new gags.
5.) If you want to make *straight* panels, use a ruler.
6.) All fantasy characters seem to have a dark, mysterious past, killed parents and a magic sword to save the world. Isn't that boring after some time? And look at the setting - this is *realistic* style, with fantasy story elements? Naaah.
Saving graces: This comic is fake. Thank God!
Phalanx Says:
Once upon a time, there was hero who had a dark and mysterious past. And for some reason, everyone else back then didn't.
Nowadays, the dark and mysterious hero is still dark and mysterious, but because everyone else is dark and mysterious with dark and mysterious pasts as well (and all of them inexplicably orphans, I mean, I didn't know the mortality rate of parents was so high!) the dark and mysterious hero is no longer as dark and mysterious as he would like to be, so while making a hero dark and mysterious is fine enough in itself, don't make the dark and mysteriousness the defining property of the hero or be damned to lose DAMH (an abbreviation, not a swear word here) in the ranks of boring mediocrity.
(Now, if you managed to read all of that and still retain your sanity, do give yourself a good pat on the back)
Terotrous says:
Ah yes, the typical flashback opener. Something about "troubled childhood"
or "parents killed" always has to be present. I remember when having a dark
past was actually mysterious, but now everyone has them these days.
mcDuffies says:
Yap, everyone has dark and mysterious past now, even average college students (hey, don't look at my comic). Beside that, we have here a unique thing: flashback started out of boredom!
As shown here, flashbacks can start in any point, unexpectedly, without a reason:
Person A: Hey, I thought I'd cook chicken for dinner!
Person B: Chicken? That reminds me of what happened to me a long time ago. It was a cold August night... (Followed by a story that's totally unrelated to chicken.)
Finally, this piece features recycling already used joke. Which wasn't original in the first place.
