It's mostly inspired by "Loaded Weapon", great parody of cop films with Emilio Esteves and Samuel Jackson. They were practically competing in who has more dark traumas from the past. Same thing can often be seen in webcomics: If you have a group of four people, all four will have their deal of flashback. And those are usually things that can be told in three or four sentences, without a flashback. So, flashback is a self-purpose then.
At first, it's hard to read a comic because captions above second and third panel in a row are too close to each other so, instead of reading "They kidnapped me while I was a kid..." you might end up reading "They kidnapped me while I was trained for I was a kid..." and be totally confused.
Although I could not hide traces of my stile, this comic is still badly drawn. It leans on one side. Without a narration, it would be impossible to see what's going on. There are silly made-up names like "Manglarena". A burst of blood is provided with the caption "blood" while it doesn't look like blood at all. In fact, a spear is not stabbing him at all (it's point is not actually penetrating the wound).
"Notebook" lines. Lettering is awfull. Now you know why I don't hand-letter usually. Stories are lame, specially the one with "kidnapped as a child and trained to be a soilder". I didn't do a spellcheck so you might expect spelling mestakes too.

I don't think I've ever seen a lined paper comic where the 'lines' are hand-drawn. This takes 'lined paper' to a whole new level.
Personally, I think the story is not as important as the execution of it. You can have a great story and completely muck it up, but you can also have a lame story and it can still be good if you execute it well.
Well of Manglarena?? I thought it was Well of Macarena! *starts doing the Macarena*

Ignoring the fact that it's fake, graph paper is
even worse than lined paper. Note the impossibility
of reading this comic. I'd read it, but I don't want to.
