How Not To Kill Off A Character #5

Throwing in front of the friend to bite the bullet. Not bad per se, but used very often. Like a rug that wears with every feet that steps on it. Also, it’s a bit pathetic. Do you think people will really sacrifice their life for others so easily? It seems as though the whole world has come right out of Shakespeare’s drama.
Other cliché: And the body was never found. This was misused so much that nowadays, when you head those words, you instantly know that character will reappear later in the story, in convenient place. When you’re counting on element of surprise (appearance of someone everyone thought was dead), using this totally looses it’s point.
