I don’t find characters dying particularly funny. A character dying isn’t particularly good joke. I’m familiar with an idea of cartoon violence, but cartoon violence derives it’s funniness from graphic representation of violence. Here, there’s nothing graphic, writer just expects readers to be amused by the fact that character died instantly.
