How Not To Kill Off A Character #14

Contributed by Terotrous of Philosophy Bites

Terotrous says:

You can always tell good storytelling when it takes an author's note
for the plot to make sense. This probably wouldn't be the best way to
come off a month-long hiatus, either. Still, thanks to the magic of
flashbacks, you're free to tell the story in a disjointed way like this
and try to pass it off as dramatic. Linear stories are for losers.

mcDuffies says:

Yeah, if we got attached to the character during the story, we’ll be interested to see how he died. Sometimes artists use such ellipses to deal with plot twists that they don’t know how to struggle with. I can understand that they’ll rather continue the story (the part that they have idea for) rather than going to a hiatus forced by a writer’s block or dragging out the story they don’t know how to finish, but it leaves a bad impression in the end.
