Liz says:
Barring the obvious problems of rushed drawing, bad coloring and
cliched-esque dialogue, let's take a look at this:
(1) This is a page from a story comic. So, all of a sudden, the
characters break for a "Christmas message". In the middle of the story.
For no reason whatsoever. It's not even a "very special" edition of the
comic featuring a Christmas pinup. No, it's somehow part of the story.
(2) From a glance at the characters - a dragon-guy, a drow and a
catgirl
- we can assume that this isn't Earth. No Earth means no Earth customs
or religions. So why and how do they know what Christmas is?
(3) The characters chibify and break the fourth wall. The latter is bad
enough, but chibies? Chibies are annoying at the best of times, made
worse when used in a decidedly non-manga setting. And where'd that
Christmas tree come from?
(4) The characters acknowledge that it's Christmas, but the holiday
greeting at the bottom of the page has "Christmas" crossed out and
"Holidays" written in its place. Make up your mind!
Terotrous says:
For such an incredibly long list of complaints, I think
this strip is pretty cool. Maybe Liz sets the bar too high.
mcDuffies says:
Uh-oh! Is this gonna turn into one of those "Nothing in this comic really happened. Forget that you've ever read it" comics?
